Gas Test Atmospheres provides training in the safe testing and monitoring of workplace atmospheres where hazardous gases may be present. The course develops the practical skills needed to use electronic gas testing equipment, assess readings and determine whether an atmosphere is suitable for the proposed work.
Learners develop procedures for preparing and conducting gas tests, interpreting results and responding appropriately when readings fall outside acceptable limits. The training also covers ongoing atmospheric monitoring where required, communication of safety actions, and the care and basic fault-finding of gas testing equipment.
The course is relevant to telecommunications and other workers who may need to assess atmospheric conditions before entering or working in areas where hazardous atmospheres could occur. Accurate testing, clear reporting and appropriate responses are important parts of maintaining safe work practices.
