Structured Cabling provides practical training in the installation, termination and testing of structured communications cabling across domestic, commercial and industrial premises. The course focuses on the cabling infrastructure used to support services such as voice, data, video and network communications.
Participants develop the skills to work with structured cabling systems, including UTP and STP cable, and to correctly prepare, route, secure and terminate cabling. Training also covers identifying system components, using suitable test equipment and checking installation performance against relevant requirements.
The course is suited to technical personnel involved in communications cabling and may also be relevant to security technicians working with structured cabling for systems such as cameras and alarms. Installation activities are undertaken with consideration of applicable Australian cabling standards and workplace requirements.
Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit. Where required, participants should also consider applicable cabling registration and endorsement requirements before undertaking regulated telecommunications cabling work.
