Course Overview

The Power Awareness Refresher course provides telecommunications workers with an opportunity to reinforce their existing knowledge of electrical safety when working near live electrical apparatus. It focuses on recognising electrical hazards, assessing risks and maintaining safe work practices during telecommunications cabling activities.

The refresher training is intended for participants who have previously completed Power Awareness training and need to maintain their competency and familiarity with relevant safety procedures. Participants should provide evidence of their previous Power Awareness competency, such as a current or previous Statement of Attainment or certificate issued within the last 12 months, before training commences.

The course covers safety considerations associated with electricity supply structures and working environments, including appropriate responses to electrical incidents and emergencies. Training supports workers involved in telecommunications activities above and below ground where electrical hazards may be present.
