The Pit and Pipe course develops the practical skills required to install underground telecommunications infrastructure, including conduits, pits and other underground enclosures used within access networks. Learners gain an understanding of how these components are positioned and installed to support the provision, protection and maintenance of telecommunications cabling.
Training covers work undertaken for new installations, upgrades and cable maintenance in outdoor environments, including customer premises and permitted public locations. The course is relevant to telecommunications technicians working with underground infrastructure across domestic, commercial and industrial settings, with a focus on safe and appropriate installation practices.
Successful completion of the required training and assessment results in a Statement of Attainment for the applicable unit requirements.
